Send & receive e-invoices via the Peppol network

What is Peppol?

Peppol stands for Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line. It is a secure network set up by the European Union over which files, such as an e-invoice in UBL format, are sent. Peppol is often used for the exchange of electronic invoices. With this platform the aim is to organise a standardised exchange of e-invoices (receiving and sending) both between businesses and governments (B2G) and between businesses (B2B).

What are the benefits of Peppol?

Peppol can be compared to email: every company has a Peppol address to which invoices can be sent, which end up in a company's inbox. Exchanging invoices via this channel has important benefits for both parties:

  • time savings -> all your purchase invoices automatically collected in one place;
  • efficient processing -> invoices can be read automatically by software programs;
  • acknowledgement of receipt -> there is an immediate, conclusive acknowledgement of receipt, so there can be no more discussion about whether or not an invoice was delivered.

Is Peppol secure?

Yes. To receive/send e-invoices via the Peppol network, your business must be registered on this network. onFact arranges this automatically: your Peppol address ('Peppol ID') is generated based on the company number or VAT number as you entered it in the 'Company information' in your account. However, to actively send and receive documents, you need to verify your company once. You verify your company in onFact to prevent invoice fraud: through the verification, we as a Certified Peppol Access Point check whether the people registering are actually authorised to send (and receive) e-invoices on behalf of the company.

Is Peppol expensive?

No. With onFact you don't have to pay anything extra to use Peppol services: it is part of your subscription anyway. Sending and receiving invoices via the Peppol network is included at onFact in all subscription plans: even the free basic subscription!
